It’s the last day of National Women’s History Month and in this post, we’d like to honor and share the spotlight with our Software Engineer superstar, Rachel Graup where she shares what this month means to her and a little more.

What does National Women’s History Month mean to you?

National Women’s History Month is — first and foremost — a time to learn about and honor the countless women throughout history who fought tirelessly to break barriers and pave the way for women today. But dynamic, powerful women don’t only exist in textbooks — they’re all around us. For me, this month is a chance to recognize those women and find inspiration in their stories.

What topic do you feel is top of mind for you and all women inside or outside of Eskalera, and why?

As a young female engineer, a topic that is often top of mind for me is how, as women, we can encourage each other to enter and feel comfortable in predominantly male spaces.

How do you think Eskalera plays a part in making a difference for women?

Despite the great strides that women have made, inequality still exists, and is, unfortunately, particularly prevalent in the workplace. Eskalera brings these systemic, yet often unrecognized, biases to light, and gives both men and women the tools to combat them.

What elements of National Women’s History Month do you want to bring into the future?

National Women’s History Month shines a brief spotlight on women’s contributions to society. But women are pushing the envelope and doing things worth celebrating throughout the year, every day. Let’s start incorporating these amazing women into our telling of history, and openly discussing how we can use their lessons going forward to empower the next generation of female leaders.

What strengths do you see in yourself?

A couple of strengths that I am proud of are:

  • I am an advocate for others — particularly those without a voice
  • I do not settle
  • I am able to see the big picture and break it down into more manageable pieces

What are 3–5 compliments you want to give other women?

  • You are intelligent
  • You are capable
  • You inspire me
  • I like your sweater

Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your thoughts, your passion and for being part of the Eskalera team. Let’s all remember to lift each other up, support and continue to celebrate one another. If you or your company is looking for ways to be more inclusive and drive systemic cultural change, contact us today for a demo!
